Dating back 300 years, seaweed bathing is Ireland’s only indigenous therapy. This tradition was known as the ‘sailors cure’, throughout old Irish history. VOYA evolved from the Walton family’s widely acclaimed family-run seaweed bathing house. The doors of the very first seaweed baths opened in the village of Strandhill in 1912 and this treasured tradition is continued today by the Walton’s. Seaweed bathing as a therapy harnesses and offers one of Mother Nature’s most powerful and pure detoxifying processes to the clientele. In 2000, Mark and Kira Walton a newly married couple at the time created VOYA products and treatments to provide an authentic spa experiencing at home. They combined their knowledge of the therapeutic properties of seaweed with the expertise of natural cosmetic scientists and dermatologists from around the world. VOYA’s seaweed is sustainably sourced, selected by eye, handpicked and harvested by their expert team. Different types of seaweed are selected for therapeutic purposes and used across their range of face, body and lifestyle products.
