Windhoek, the gateway and capital of the country, lies 1689 metres above sea level, embedded by the “Khomas Highland”. Hotel Heinitzburg is situated on the “Luxury Hill”, five minutes’ drive from the city centre, overlooking the capital and its remarkable highlands.
This German castle was commissioned in 1914 by Count von Schwerin for his fiancée, Margarethe von Heinitz. In 1996 it was turned into a privately owned hotel with ten rooms. In 2000 six additional rooms, a gourmet restaurant, Leo’s at the Castle, a new kitchen and a wine cellar as well as a new swimming pool next to the Pool Side Deluxe Rooms were finished.
Hotel Heinitzburg endeavours to balance traditional African friendliness and beauty with excellent European culinary art and wine from the world-class cellar in order to make guests’ stay with the hotel, a memorable one.
