Hotel Grand Windsor
Auckland, New Zealand
Hotel Grand Windsor in Auckland, New Zealand showcases an Art Deco jewel in the nation’s architectural crown. Following a historically sensitive, $10.5m refurbishment this boutique hotel creates a guest experience reminiscent of an intimate 1900’s London hotel. Located in Auckland’s premier retail and dining precinct, Hotel Grand Windsor is the ideal hideaway for discerning guests.
No need for tired guests to shift from foot to foot at a check-in counter. Rather, a concierge accompanies them into the sumptuous lounge, presenting a tea-based welcome beverage – acknowledging the property’s history as a 1930’s teahouse and soda fountain. Exquisite tea sets take pride of place in guest rooms. Original artwork adorns walls, inspired by the matchless Art Deco jewellery collection of the first Duchess of Windsor. Half the 79 rooms are suites.
Interior design retains Art Deco aesthetics while introducing a contemporary edge. Cuisine emphasises sustainably farmed and caught meat and fish, seasonal and organic produce and organic wines. High Tea, launched in 2018, has quickly gained a stellar reputation, presenting the finest morsels and petit-fours, all crafted in-house.
