With nearly 350 years of history, Grand Hotel Les Trois Rois is one of Europe’s most storied city hotels. Founded in 1681 and rebuilt as a Grand Hotel in 1844, it has welcomed kings, poets, and artists from around the world. Located in the heart of Basel’s Old Town, directly on the Rhine, it combines historic charm, genuine hospitality, and timeless elegance.
After a two-year transformation, the hotel reopened its historic head building in summer 2025 – reimagined by Herzog & de Meuron. The renowned Basel-based architects created spaces filled with light and atmosphere: elegant rooms and suites, the Japanese-inspired wellbeing area Seijaku, versatile event venues, and the new restaurant Banks – Basel’s new hotspot for European-Asian sharing cuisine.
Culinary highlights include the 3-Michelin-starred Cheval Blanc by Peter Knogl, the Brasserie Les Trois Rois with its refined classics, the Bar Les Trois Rois with award-winning cocktails and stunning Rhine views, and Banks, offering a vibrant dining experience with creative sharing dishes.
