Casas na Areia was originally our family’s holiday home, but it soon became a place to welcome friends and guests.
We continuously ask ourselves how to honor the cultural heritage of a structure while making its story relevant today. With Casas na Areia, we believe we have achieved this. As with all our properties, we recognise the central role of people in memory, history, and place. Sharing life’s experiences with others lies at the heart of community and humanity.
The renovation was carried out by our dear friend and architect, Manuel Aires Mateus. What has now become a signature of Silent Living, the design connects the natural character of the site with contemporary architecture, while respecting the simplicity of the original fishing hut.
Casas na Areia comprises four buildings. The thatched walls and sand floors evoke an earlier time, while the minimalist architecture highlights the simplicity and spirit of a traditional fisherman’s village.
