At the heart of Cape Town’s historic Heritage Square, Cape Heritage Hotel is an 18th-century gem where the past and present live beautifully side by side. The hotel itself dates to the 1780s, while the surrounding square has witnessed centuries of Cape Town life; once home to tobacconists, bakers, gunsmiths, coach makers and more.
Saved from demolition in the 1960s and lovingly restored in the late 1980s, the square today offers a glimpse into the city’s rich architectural and cultural heritage. At the centre of it all, the hotel’s courtyard is shaded by a remarkable grapevine planted in 1781 – believed to be South Africa’s oldest known fruit-bearing grapevine.
With original features, contemporary comforts and local art throughout, the Cape Heritage Hotel invites guests to experience Cape Town within a living piece of its history.
